This blog gets my opposite of goat!

If you were in Minneapolis would you be looking for Prince around every corner? I'm not, but still -- what gives? Why haven't we seen him yet?

Aside from this glaring lack, the Twin Cities have been lovely. To chronicle, I (and various others in my department) have: taken a bus tour given by the Minneapolis city planners, listened to a lecture by Myron Orfield on his very interesting research, met with the St. Paul city planners and learned about their varied and many projects, toured the Elliot Park neighborhood, and learned about the Mississippi River's formative effects on the urban landscape. There have also been plenty of social events and other ways o' experiencing the cities. I like 'em, I do. And now - a nap.

My room is in the basement of my house, and this morning my landlord, certainly not per my request, installed an open-air toilet in the laundry room explicitly for my use. I just tested it it out, and it was strange.

A number of Faltos, Falto Friends, and High School Friends rolled through on Saturday, and it was simply delightful to see them friendly Irish (either in heritage or undergraduate affiliation) faces. The game sucked, but Leopold's, the Heidelberg and the Fleetwood did not. I secretly feel that I've lived in Ann Arbor for likkkkeeee a lifetime. That's good, right?

Here's a roommate's photo -- sweet Adams Ave, where I'll call home for the next 8ish months at least. Classes are good (I dropped one yesterday - so liberating!), weekends are gooder, and I'm Fed-Work/Studying in a fairly interesting capacity.

The UM band, but one block away, is currently playing the ND fight song. Their arrangement is sorely lacking a soaring mellophone counter-melody. Boo.

Man, this past weekend's game(s) w(as/ere) unfortunate. Ugh. Bless the PBR for lessening the sting a little. Ah, and the seeing everybody -- that was pretty great, too. Thanks for the business card, Vnak.

Sources will tell you I'm now settling into my subterranean room within the Ann Arbor city limits. It's good. When it actually looks good maybe I'll document. Classes 1 & 2 were today, and then there was frisbee.

Maoxie is settling in nicely. This is a dusty house, though, and xe is having a hard time keeping xis long hair lustrous. Free free to recommend products et al.

That's it. Classes 3, 4, 5 (&6?) are tomorrow. And maybe I will finally get my MCard. It's been my goal for the past week. Wish me luck.
